“The professors were extremely helpful as mentors—not just academically, but also on a spiritual and human level.”

Upon her arrival, she wasn’t disappointed. “My conversations with them challenged me to mature in my faith.” She recalls a three-hour study session about the Trinity with fellow students and theology professor Andy Hohman. ”I was amazed that anyone would care enough to spend that much time talking with undergraduates who have questions.” During her time at Marian University Ensley received the Senior Award for Outstanding Achievement in Foreign Language for her study of French, and is a member of Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities. She feels Marian University prepared her well for her graduate studies in theology at the University of Notre Dame, where she now attends.

Choosing a collegiate environment where she could develop her faith was important to Claire Ensley, and she’d heard excellent things about the theology program at Marian University. “I think theology asks the biggest, most interesting, and most meaningful questions.

Ensley will graduate in May 2012 with her master’s degree in theological studies with a concentration in systematic theology. After graduation, she is looking into Ph.D. programs in theology, as well as teaching theology at the high school level.
